Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support environmental management for Civil, Solar, Wind and HV Transmission projects across North America. You will review environmental documentation, advise on compliance, and work with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least four years of experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to travel up to 50% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
• Minimum four years related experience.
• Significant experience with environmental areas such as erosion control, storm water, spills, wetlands, endangered species.
• Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and local laws, policies and procedures.
• Collaborative and team-oriented, self-directed.
• Ability to interact with consultants and governmental agencies.
• Proficiency with PC, tablets and common software (Excel, MS Word).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Implement Mortenson’s environmental program for simple to moderately complex project sites and promote environmental compliance of construction activities.
• Develop site-specific environmental plans and activities.
• Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings.
• Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Develop and lead environmental orientation and training programs.
• Lead onsite best management practices for environmental management.
• Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measures and conduct work site environmental inspections.
• Collaborate with customers on regulatory reporting and documentation requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of environmental issues in construction and related standards, laws and procedures.
• Interface with customer environmental personnel, consultants, regulatory representatives, etc.
• Assist in developing company-wide Environmental Management programs.
