Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support environmental management across Civil, Solar, Wind and High Voltage Transmission projects in North America. You will review environmental documentation, advise on environmental matters, and coordinate with staff at all levels to uphold company policies.

The role requires a degree in a related field, at least four years of experience, and travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
• Minimum of four years related experience.
• Significant experience with erosion prevention and sediment control, storm water pollution prevention plans, spill prevention controls and countermeasures, wetlands, endangered species.
• Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and local laws, policies and procedures.
• A well-organized, self-directed, collaborative team player.
• Ability to interact with consultants and governmental agencies.
• Ability to use PC, tablets and software like Excel and MS Word.
• Current driver’s license.
• Able to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Implement environmental program for project sites and ensure construction compliance.
• Develop site-specific environmental plans and activities.
• Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction meetings.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations through policies and procedures.
• Lead environmental orientation and training programs.
• Lead onsite best management practices for environmental management.
• Monitor mitigation measures and conduct site inspections.
• Collaborate with customers on regulatory reporting requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of environmental issues and applicable laws.
• Interface with environmental personnel, consultants, regulatory reps.
