Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Construction Environmental Specialist for the Solar group to support environmental management across North America. You will review documentation, advise on environmental matters, and promote compliance on projects in a fast-moving environment.

The role requires flexibility, proactive collaboration, and strong confidentiality. Expect 100% travel and base pay in a competitive range with eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
• Minimum of four years related experience.
• Experience in erosion prevention and sediment control, storm water plans, spill prevention, wetlands, or endangered species.
• Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial, and local laws and procedures.
• Organized, self-directed, collaborative team player.
• Ability to interact with consultants and governmental agencies.
• Proficiency with PC, tablets and widely used software packages (Excel, MS Word).
• Current driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Implement Mortenson’s environmental program for simple to moderately complex project sites and promote environmental compliance of construction activities.
• Develop site-specific environmental plans and activities.
• Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings.
• Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Develop and lead environmental orientation and training programs.
• Lead onsite best management practices for environmental management.
• Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measures and conduct site inspections.
• Collaborate with customers on regulatory reporting and documentation requirements.
• Maintain operational knowledge of environmental issues and applicable standards, regulations, laws, and procedures.
• Interface with customer’s environmental personnel and consultants.
• Assist in the development of company-wide Environmental Management supportive programs.
