What We Need YOU To Do: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR) at our Southwest District Office in Montgomery County.

In your new position as an environmental specialist, you will evaluate the hydrogeologic setting of hazardous waste sites to determine the nature and extent of groundwater contamination and appropriate remedial measures necessary to restore groundwater and minimize contaminant migration. You will review site-specific conditions, groundwater sampling plans, water quality data, investigative reports, feasibility studies, and engineering design plans involving site cleanup.
You are going to provide technical assistance on hydrogeologic matters to participants in the state’s voluntary action program, the regulated community, consultants, and government officials regarding applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and division policy and guidance.
You’ll be reviewing plans, drawings, and specifications for the construction, operation, and maintenance of remedial activities at assigned sites – and make sure the associated activities are carried out in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
You’ll also review new or revised laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards – and make recommendations for their efficient implementation and further modification. You’ll serve as an expert witness for Ohio EPA and the Ohio Attorney General as required by litigation resulting from these activities.
