NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Trainer, Environmental Support to join the Environmental Services team. This full-time day position trains Environmental Service Workers and Transporters on cleaning procedures and service standards, ensuring a positive patient experience across all shifts.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to mentor staff while maintaining hospital cleanliness and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• 1–2 years of experience in cleaning/Environmental Services.

Responsibilities

• Provide staff guidance and training for new roles.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Trainer, Environmental Support - Full Time, Days - Environmental Srvcs - 7AM-3PM/8AM-4PM Monday - Friday with Alternating Weekends, In this role, the successful candidate serves a diverse population of patients, including those with special needs, at all stages of the life cycle. The Environmental Support Services Trainer must demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with various age groups of patients, visitors and staff in order to provide specialized cleaning and training on all shifts/days to Environmental Service Workers and Transporters that promotes the Hospitals Core Values. Excellent communication, organizational, leadership skills must be demonstrated through age-specific interactions that enhance customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

• Provides staff guidance and training to all support service employees as they become acclimated into their new roles.
• Acts as a role model for all employees they interact with w hile continuously supporting hospital service standards throug guidance and training activities.
• Promotes customer service and a positive patient experience by utilizing AIDET, customer service and strong human interactive skills.
• Shadows, re-trains with one-on-one guidance, as needed.
• Supports service standards by presenting at the new employee orientation.
• Obtain cleaning equipment and ensure all cleaning items are in place:
  • Stock closet/cart with needed supplies/chemicals to complete required assignments.
  • Maintains cart in neat clean orderly condition.
  • Ensures that Environmental cart is not blocking any fire doors.
  • Follow manufactures guidelines when using chemicals.
  • Ensures all chemicals are secured when leaving the area.
  • Reports unsafe equipment and products to supervisor.
• Follow 7 Step Cleaning Procedure in vacated patient area including bed sanitizing ensuring linen is clean, neat and in excellent condition.
• Visually inspects area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleaning and neatness have been achieved.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency in order to follow written work assignments & maintain records. Must have excellent customer-service and skills demonstrable in interactions with staff, administrators, patients and visitors. The ability to train Environmental Service Workers and Transporters on proper cleaning procedures. Must be available to train on all shifts; including weekends. Must have 1 to 2 years of experience and knowledge of all aspects of cleaning and proper use and maintenance of equipment in the Environmental Services Department. Excellent Interpersonal skills and well-organized for effective leadership.

The salary range for the role is $46,295.97 - $51,051.25 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
