Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking an Environmental Service Worker I for the Evening shift (3:00PM - 11:00PM) Monday to Friday with alternating weekends. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, maintaining supplies, and ensuring a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.

The candidate will use 7 Step Cleaning procedures, interact respectfully with diverse populations and follow safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Approximately 1–3 months experience with cleaning procedures.
• Ongoing education through seminars and inservices, per NYU policy.
• Strong interpersonal skills in interactions with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Report to Supervisor for assignment.
• Obtain cleaning equipment and ensure items are in place.
• Introduce self to patients/visitors/staff and explain assignment.
• Follow 7 Step Cleaning Procedure and ensure room cleanliness.
• Inspect area after cleaning for thoroughness and neatness.
• Maintain and stock cleaning supplies and cart in good condition.
