Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking Environmental Services Assistants to join our team at Akron General Medical Center. You will support patient care by maintaining clean and safe environments across patient rooms, corridors and common areas.

The role offers day, evening, night and weekend shifts, with every other weekend as part of a full-time or part-time schedule. You will work with a caring team focused on patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• Interest in housekeeping work demonstrated by previous experience or ability to learn.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, use care and attention when using equipment.
• Insurable under hospital plan to be permitted to drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Clean patient rooms, utility rooms, nourishment rooms, conference rooms, offices, corridors, stairways, locker rooms and restrooms.
• Clean toilets, urinals, sinks and lockers.
• Replenish supplies.
• Collect trash and needles and dispose of them in an appropriate manner.
• Dust ceilings, ceiling vents, TVs, light fixtures, doors, walls, wall hangings and flat surfaces.
• Wash or spot clean walls, cabinets, elevators, counters, desks and windows.
• Clean floors, carpets, floods and body fluids.
• Use and maintain equipment, such as vacuums, buffers, cleaning carts, buckets, wringers, sweeping tools and mops.
• Clean and disinfect beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and other items in patient rooms.
• Strip and make beds.
• Transport and move furniture and equipment.
• Report malfunctioning equipment, unsafe conditions and broken items.
