Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. Environmental Service Worker I is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in patient and public areas. You will perform cleaning, floor care, waste management, and respond to cleaning needs in assigned spaces.

The role requires adherence to infection control and safety protocols, reliable attendance, and the ability to interact with staff, patients, and visitors in a courteous manner. On-site shift-based work is expected.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of cleaning or environmental service experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms and other spaces following infection control standards.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and dusts floors, furniture and equipment using appropriate tools.
• Performs maintenance on floors and surfaces including stripping, refinishing and treating as per procedures.
• Washes walls, windows, and surfaces to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
• Restocks supplies and monitors inventory levels to ensure availability.
• Handles trash and biohazardous materials safely per safety protocols.
• Operates and maintains cleaning equipment; reports malfunctions.
• Assists with minor repairs or maintenance tasks and reports larger issues.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
