Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. seeks an Environmental Service Worker I to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across patient areas.

You will perform cleaning, floor care, and waste management while following infection control and HIPAA protocols. Responsibilities include sanitizing rooms, hallways, restrooms, and public spaces; restocking supplies; handling trash and biohazardous materials safely; operating cleaning equipment; and assisting with minor repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of cleaning or environmental service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products.
• Understanding of infection control and safety standards.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment effectively and safely.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, patients, and visitors.
• Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift or move objects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas following infection control standards.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and dusts floors and surfaces.
• Maintains floors and upholstery through basic maintenance tasks.
• Washes walls, ceilings, windows, and woodwork for hygiene.
• Restocks supplies and reports shortages.
• Handles trash and biohazardous materials safely per safety protocols.
• Operates and maintains cleaning equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Assists with minor repairs and notifies on larger facility issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
