Job summary

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach is seeking a Full-time Senior Environmental Services Technician (Team Lead) for the evening shift. You will supervise EVS staff, assign daily tasks, and ensure high cleanliness and safety standards in patient areas and common spaces.

Requirements include 2 years of Service Associate experience, 1 year of supervisory experience preferred, and CHEST certification within 2 years of hire.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent (Preferred).
  • CHEST certification required within 2 years of hire.
  • 2 years of Service Associate experience required; 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

  • Maintain assigned areas and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
  • Perform cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing patient rooms, hallways, common areas, and workspaces.
  • Provide functional supervision by assigning daily tasks to Environmental Services staff and ensuring work is completed to quality standards.
  • Train and orient new team members, serving as a resource for ongoing support and guidance.
  • Monitor the quality and timeliness of staff work to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Respond promptly to spills, urgent cleaning needs, and requests for service from clinical staff.

Overview

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital is hiring a Full-time, Evening Shift, Senior Environmental Services Technician (Team Lead). This role requires maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients and staff while providing functional supervision to Environmental Services staff.

Hours/Shift: Swing 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and every other weekend.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain assigned areas and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
  • Perform cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing patient rooms, hallways, common areas, and workspaces.
  • Provide functional supervision by assigning daily tasks to Environmental Services staff and ensuring work is completed to quality standards.
  • Train and orient new team members, serving as a resource for ongoing support and guidance.
  • Monitor the quality and timeliness of staff work to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement and customer service initiatives.
  • Respond promptly to spills, urgent cleaning needs, and requests for service from clinical staff.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills, supervising and supporting a team.
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards in a healthcare environment.
  • Communicate effectively to foster collaboration and provide clear guidance to staff.
  • Understand infection prevention practices and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Qualifications

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent (Preferred). Certifications: Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) – preferred. CHEST certification required within 2 years of hire.

Experience: 2 years of Service Associate Experience (Required). 1 year of supervisory experience (Strongly Preferred). Previous housekeeping/cleaning experience (Strongly Preferred). 1 year of housekeeping/ESD experience in lieu of high school education (Preferred).
