Job summary

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital is hiring a Full-time Environmental Services Technician I (Night Shift) to lead a team during the third shift. The role combines hands-on cleaning with supervising ES staff, training new members, and ensuring high cleanliness standards in a hospital setting.

Qualifications include a High School Grad or Equivalent, CHEST certification within 2 years, and 2 years of service associate experience with supervisory preference.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Grad or Equivalent (Preferred).
  • Certifications: CHEST - Certification - Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE) (Preferred).
  • Experience: 2 Years of Service Associate Experience (Required); 1 Year Supervisory Experience (Strongly Preferred); Previous Housekeeping/Cleaning Experience (Strongly Preferred); 1 year of housekeeping/ESD experience in lieu of High School Education (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned areas and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
  • Clean, disinfect, and organize patient rooms, hallways, common areas, and workspaces.
  • Provide functional supervision by assigning daily tasks to Environmental Services staff and ensuring work is completed to quality standards.
  • Train and orient new team members, serving as a resource for ongoing support and guidance.
  • Monitor the quality and timeliness of staff work to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement and customer service initiatives.
  • Respond promptly to spills, urgent cleaning needs, and requests for service from clinical staff.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to supervise and support a team.
  • A detail-oriented individual who can maintain high cleanliness standards in a healthcare environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and provide clear guidance to staff.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

This position combines hands-on service with functional supervision of environmental services staff to ensure high-quality standards are consistently met in assigned areas.**## ## **In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining assigned areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition, ensuring an appropriate and sanitary environment.
