Overview

Sentara Leigh Hospital Environmental Services is hiring Environmental Services Tech I (Housekeepers) and Environmental Services Tech III (Floor Techs). The position is full‑time with various shifts available, working Monday through Friday and every other weekend.

Work Shift

• Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Evening Shift: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
• Night Shift: 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

Environmental Services Tech I (Housekeeper)

Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitary environment in assigned areas. Requires safe work practices, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and applications such as damp dusting, mopping, scouring, scrubbing, stripping, and polishing. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for waste collection, handling, and transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Perform tasks such as dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
• Follow established protocols for the safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ensure proper collection, handling, and disposal of waste according to regulatory standards.
• Respond promptly to spills and urgent cleaning needs.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily cleaning and sanitation goals.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation protocols and infection prevention standards.
• Provide excellent service to patients and staff by maintaining a safe environment.
• Follow safety procedures and infection prevention guidelines.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Experience

• 1 year of housekeeping/ESD experience in lieu of High School Education (Preferred)
• Housekeeping/Environmental Services Cleaning Experience (Preferred)
• Customer Service Experience (Preferred)

Environmental Services Tech III (Floor Tech)

Responsible for maintenance of floors, including safe use of chemicals, equipment, and cleaning applications such as mopping, scouring, scrubbing, stripping, and polishing. Cross‑trained to EST I competencies to provide cleaning duties when necessary.

Education

• High School Graduate or Equivalent (Preferred)

Experience

• Less than a year of Environmental Associate Experience (Required)
• 1 year of housekeeping/ESD experience in lieu of High School Education (Required)
• Previous Healthcare/Hospitality Experience (Preferred)
