NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking an Environmental Services Technician II at Swedish Hospital in Chicago, IL. This full-time role offers evening hours (4pm-12:30am) with a rotating weekend schedule and a strong focus on maintaining clean, infection-free environments for patients and staff.

The position emphasizes adherence to infection control, safe waste handling, and teamwork with the Environmental Services Supervisor and peers to ensure high facility standards.

Qualifications

• High School required.
• 1 year experience in environmental services or housekeeping, healthcare setting preferred.
• Certified in Infection Control (CBIC CIC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, public areas, and staff workspaces per hospital protocols.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces to prevent infections.
• Maintain organized cart with cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to infection control guidelines and PPE usage.
• Follow proper isolation procedures when cleaning rooms of contagious patients.
• Report safety hazards or infection control breaches to supervisor.
• Safely collect, transport, and dispose of medical waste and trash per policies.
• Collaborate with Environmental Services team to complete tasks timely.
• Assist in training new Environmental Services Technicians.
