Job summary

nshs seeks an Environmental Services Technician II for Swedish Hospital in Chicago, IL. This part-time role (20 hours) runs 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in a fast-paced hospital setting, focusing on keeping patient rooms and facilities clean and infection-free.

Responsibilities include cleaning per protocols, disposing waste, maintaining supplies, and following infection-control practices to protect patients and staff. High school diploma and healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School required.
• 1 year experience in environmental services or housekeeping, healthcare setting preferred.
• Certified in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, public areas, and staff workspaces following hospital cleaning protocols.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces to prevent the spread of infections.
• Maintain stocked and organized cleaning carts and supplies.
• Adhere to infection control guidelines and PPE requirements.
• Follow isolation procedures when cleaning rooms of contagious patients.
• Report safety or infection control breaches to supervisor.
• Dispose of medical waste and recyclables per policy and regulations.
• Transport and replace biohazard/sharps containers as needed.
• Assist in training new Environmental Services Technicians.
