Environmental Services Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking a supervisor to organize, coordinate, and oversee the duties of the Environmental Services department. This is a working supervisor role, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the practice.

Supervision Received: Reports to Facility Services Manager and Director of Operations.

Supervision Exercised: Supervises environmental services staff as assigned.

Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Frequent lifting and moving of items over 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Working Conditions: Primarily in a professional office environment. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee activities of environmental services staff.
• Manage and train staff, ensuring they stay current with required education.
• Conduct daily and weekly inspections to ensure housekeeping standards are met.
• Evaluate employee productivity and quality of work; identify additional training needs.
• Report occupational exposures per facility policies.
• Ensure proper use of uniforms and PPE.
• Lead and assist in environmental services training and in-service sessions.
• Recommend improvements for service efficiency.
• Assess building needs for repairs or replacements and advise management.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
• Investigate complaints and take corrective actions.
• Communicate with procurement and vendors to maintain supplies and equipment.
• Participate in departmental budgeting and supply planning.
• Perform all duties of environmental services staff as needed.
• Attend educational seminars and meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and demonstrate initiative.
• Organize and lead staff meetings, teach job duties effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Location & Commitments

Full-time position based at our Greenville Arlington Blvd. location, with various shifts including evenings and weekends. Travel to other locations is required. Reliable transportation is necessary. Overtime may be needed to cover shifts and complete tasks.

Candidate Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years supervisory experience in Environmental Services.
• Strong background in healthcare-related environmental services.
• Knowledge of OSHA practices and infection control in healthcare.
• Ability to work independently and schedule cleaning activities accordingly.
• Proficiency in PC applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
