Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Director of Environmental Services with department activities such as staff orientation, providing guidance on daily duties, assisting with hiring and discipline, and conducting meetings.
  2. Oversee operations of Housekeeping, Linen Services, and Waste & Recycling for both Day and Evening shifts, working closely with the Director.
  3. Check attendance, issue supplies, schedule staff, and ensure adequate coverage.
  4. Conduct rounds and inspections to ensure departmental standards are met and staff perform their duties efficiently.
  5. Train employees on cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
  6. Assist with hiring, handle grievances, and manage work schedules, vacations, and transfers.
  7. Prepare daily action plans and manage special cleaning tasks.
  8. Maintain supplies, equipment, and ensure proper cleaning and upkeep.
  9. Respond promptly to requests, prioritize tasks, and ensure proper performance.
  10. Manage floor and carpet care, coordinating with departments on scheduled maintenance.
  11. Conduct inspections and prepare reports.
  12. Place orders using the Meditech System, track requisitions, and maintain records.
  13. Assist in preparing the department budget and updating policies, manuals, and documentation.
  14. Supervise employee requests and approve or deny based on policies.
  15. Prepare electronic payroll and monitor sick time.
  16. Conduct meetings, in-services, and orientation programs in compliance with regulations.
  17. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma required; 1-2 years of college preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience and 4 years of environmental services experience required.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping operations and cleaning solutions.
  • Experience with hard surface and carpet floor maintenance.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as buffing machines, vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
  • Computer literacy required.
