Job summary

Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, LLC is seeking a meticulous environmental services worker to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming areas for patients, visitors, and staff. You will perform housekeeping tasks, dispose waste safely, and support daily operations while upholding the facility’s standards.

Responsibilities include floor care, surface disinfection, and reporting supply needs. The role emphasizes adaptability, teamwork, and courteous interaction with others in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain assigned areas to ensure safety and comfort of patients and staff.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and mop floors; clean surfaces and fixtures as directed.
  • Dispose of waste following safety procedures; assist with basic housekeeping tasks.
  • Report supply needs and equipment issues to supervisor.

Under direct and indirect supervision, cleans and services assigned areas to ensure safety, health and morale of patients, visitors, and employees; assists in providing clean, attractive, safe environments with minimal interference to others.

As a representative of this facility, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct effect on the center's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, physicians, referral sources, guest, visitors, volunteer workers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork that is congruent with the center's standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.

Responsibilities
  • Sweeps, mops, washes, scrubs floor; cleans and/or polishes floor using buffing machine.
  • Vacuums, spot-cleans carpets when assigned.
  • Collects, bags, transports and disposes or refuse and hazardous/infectious waste in sanitary and safe manner.
  • Sorts and stores recyclable as instructed.
  • Cleans and disinfects all surfaces, using ladder when necessary (e.g. furniture, fixtures, glass, walls, ceilings, tops of windows, doorframes, equipment).
  • Washes and disinfects sinks, toilets and other plumbing fixtures; replaces disposable (e.g. paper towels, soap, toilet paper).
  • Cleans and prepares discharge units; makes beds; reports availability of bed/unit upon completion.
  • Uses detergents, disinfectants, finishes and other cleaning chemicals according to manufacturers directions.
  • Moves furniture, beds, supplies and other equipment.
  • Informs supervisor of supplies needed; notifies supervisor of equipment and facilities in need of repair.
  • Maintains basic records and reports as required; maintains personal appearance; maintains neat and orderly work area.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
