Job summary

Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, LLC is seeking a janitor to maintain clean, safe patient-care areas and public spaces. You will support healthcare operations by cleaning floors, disinfecting surfaces, and disposing of waste while adhering to guidelines and ensuring a respectful environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities include routine cleaning, stock replenishment, and reporting equipment issues. Requires a high school diploma and at least three months of general work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, mops, washes, scrubs floor; cleans and/or polishes floor using buffing machine.
  • Vacuums, spot-cleans carpets when assigned.
  • Collects, bags, transports and disposes of refuse and hazardous/infectious waste safely.
  • Sorts and stores recyclables as instructed.
  • Cleans and disinfects surfaces using appropriate cleaners.
  • Washes and disinfects sinks, toilets and fixtures; replenishes supplies.
  • Cleans and prepares discharge units; makes beds and reports bed status.
  • Uses detergents and disinfectants per manufacturers' directions.
  • Moves furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Notifies supervisor of supplies or repairs.
  • Maintains neat, safe work area and professional appearance.

Job description

Under direct and indirect supervision, cleans and services assigned areas to ensure safety, health and morale of patients, visitors, and employees; assists in providing clean, attractive, safe environments with minimal interference to others.

As a representative of this facility, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct effect on the center's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, physicians, referral sources, guest, visitors, volunteer workers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork that is congruent with the center's standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts and stores recyclable as instructed.
  • Cleans and disinfects all surfaces, using ladder when necessary (e.g. furniture, fixtures, glass, walls, ceilings, tops of windows, doorframes, equipment).
  • Washes and disinfects sinks, toilets and other plumbing fixtures; replaces disposable (e.g. paper towels, soap, toilet paper).
  • Cleans and prepares discharge units; makes beds; reports availability of bed/unit upon completion.
  • Uses detergents, disinfectants, finishes and other cleaning chemicals according to manufacturers directions.
  • Moves furniture, beds, supplies and other equipment.
  • Informs supervisor of supplies needed; notifies supervisor of equipment and facilities in need of repair.
  • Maintains basic records and reports as required; maintains personal appearance; maintains neat and orderly work area.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
