Job summary

APTIM is seeking a junior Environmental Scientist in the Norfolk, VA area to support our stormwater compliance program on a full-time basis. The role involves field sampling, data management, and coordinating with clients to meet permit requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a core science or related field, comfortable traveling to sites, and a willingness to learn across solid waste, hazardous materials, and RCRA compliance as part of a broader environmental team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a core science or related field required.
• 1-2 years of related work experience preferred; entry level considered with degree.
• Willingness to travel for stormwater sampling at client sites.

Responsibilities

• Collect environmental samples in the field and prepare them for lab analysis.
• Calibrate and use technical instruments for fieldwork.
• Review permit documents (NPDES, SWPPP, SPCC, etc.) for site compliance.
• Plan and schedule field activities across multiple sites.
• Maintain records and prepare inspection reports detailing site conditions and compliance.
