Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Environmental Compliance, Investigation, and Remediation team based in Northern New Jersey, with project sites in New Jersey and New York. The role focuses on interpreting regulations, data review, client relations, and project leadership.

On-site work and periodic travel are expected. The ideal candidate has 2–7 years in environmental consulting or site investigation, with strong communication, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental sciences, geology, or related field.
• 2–7 years of experience in environmental consulting, compliance, site investigation, or remediation.
• Experience with NYSDEC regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Responsibilities

• Interpret federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assess environmental impacts and project challenges.
• Scope, direct, and lead projects and teams.
• Analyze data and review site-specific technical documents and permits.
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and help direct work for multiple projects and clients.
• Support client relationships and business development activities.
• Maintain quality control across projects and administrative tasks.
• Travel to field sites and work in environments with potential hazards.
