LATA is seeking an Environmental Scientist II (Counting Room Analyst) in Carlsbad, NM to support the DOE WIPP program at the site, managing environmental samples and analytical data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and defensibility.
Responsibilities include sample reception, instrument maintenance, data verification, and reporting; collaboration with client programs for reliability. A BS in a technical field with 1–3 years of experience, and MS Office proficiency are required.
LATA is currently searching for an Environmental Scientist II (Counting Room Analyst) to support the Analytical Services Team (AST) in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This position supports the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and is located at the WIPP site. The Environmental Scientist II supports WIPP programs by managing environmental samples and associated analytical data, working closely with LATA management, the Management and Operating Contractor, WIPP site departments, analytical laboratory subcontractors, and other environmental organizations to ensure data are accurate, complete, compliant with applicable requirements, and legally defensible.
Responsibilities include coordinating gross alpha/gross beta filter analyses, shipping samples for destructive analysis, ensuring proper documentation, verifying data accuracy, and maintaining records in accordance with project requirements. This position is located at the WIPP site.
