SIMCO, LLC is seeking a qualified Radiological Controls Supervisor in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The successful candidate will manage the implementation of the WIPP Radiological Control Program and supervise Radiological Control Technicians, ensuring safety and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Candidates must have an Associate's degree and two years of experience or a High School Diploma with four years of relevant experience. Additionally, candidates must be prepared to obtain a Department of Energy badge for site access.
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Radiological Controls Supervisor and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day implementation of the WIPP Radiological Control Program and Conduct of Operations in all aspects of routine, abnormal, and emergency response work. The candidate will provide work assignments for Radiological Control Technicians, ensure that radiological support for WIPP operations are conducted in accordance with approved procedures implementing ALARA principles and compliance with 10 CFR 835, coordinate with other Departments, create Radiological Work Permits, analyze job hazards and prescribe mitigations, and provide input to Procedures and Work Packages. The candidate will also ensure completion of surveys, posting and controlling radiological hazards, radioactive source control, routine air monitoring, and other duties as assigned by the Radiological Control Manager. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, and the ability to work independently with limited direction and guidance is essential.
Exempt grade level(s) 28-31. Salary range: $70,972 to $133,850 per year – the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
