Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Chino, New Mexico, is seeking an Environmental Scientist I or Environmental Engineer I to support environmental projects across the site.

You will assist with monitoring instruments, data analyses for regulatory compliance, and the development of risk-reduction programs in collaboration with site teams. Under supervision, you will contribute to audits, document environmental records, and maintain knowledge of applicable regulations and site policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or related Natural Science or Engineering field.
• Additional certification or licensure such as HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, CHMM may be required or preferred.
• Engineering graduates may also qualify with relevant licensure.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, and maintain environmental monitoring instruments and testing equipment.
• Analyze data for regulatory compliance.
• Assess environmental risk and help develop risk-reduction programs.
• Audit operations for regulatory compliance and environmental policies.
• Collaborate with management on appropriate actions in compliance with regulations.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of environmental data and communications.
• Develop knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures.
• Coordinate recycling and disposition of materials and assets.
• Provide leadership to technicians as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
