Job summary

Certerra Southwest in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Environmental Scientist with state or federal certifications for asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, or environmental management to join our team.

The successful candidate will conduct a mix of field and office duties to support senior leaders, travel across the southwestern US, and expand skills in regulatory compliance and environmental systems design within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Must have state or federal level certifications for asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, or environmental management.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPPER Training or equivalent is preferred.
• Clean driving record and ability to travel.
• BS in Engineering or Physical Science required.

Responsibilities

• Support field projects including groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, vapor sampling, and remediation systems operation/maintenance.
• Support planning and design of environmental systems to mitigate pollutant discharge.
• Monitor, record, and report environmental field measurements.
• Conduct field investigations and inspections for regulatory compliance and permits.
• Collect soil samples from borings, prepare lithology, and screen for contaminants.
• Install groundwater monitoring wells and sampling ports per project specs.
• Log data, prepare spreadsheets, and perform calculations for exposure assessments.
• Prepare detailed report narratives summarizing research and field activities.
