Job summary

Sphere 3 Environmental is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to lead technical compliance initiatives, audits, and regulatory strategies for a diverse client base with a strong oil and gas focus. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 3+ years of progressive environmental science/regulatory compliance experience, with emphasis on oil & gas.
• Deep knowledge of federal/state regulations (EPA, TCEQ, RRC, NMED, NMOCD, etc.).
• Proven ability to write complex technical reports and navigate agency negotiations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate data for clients/regulators.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with environmental data management, modeling, and GIS software.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical components of complex environmental compliance projects and audits.
• Serve as Technical SME and client-facing advisor on regulations and compliance frameworks.
• Oversee authoring of high-level permit applications, technical reports, and agency correspondence.
• Design and conduct field investigations, audits, and sampling programs.
• Provide mentorship and daily oversight to junior staff; ensure QC and scientific validity.
• Assess regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies and solutions.
• Contribute to proposals by defining technical scopes, methods, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure project success.
