Job Description

Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Restoration Team in support of the Army Environmental Cleanup Program at facilities primarily located in DC, MD, NJ, and PA. This full-time position is remote but requires routine travel to Army Installations throughout the region for field visits and meetings, supporting oversight tasks. Residency in the DC/Baltimore area is required. The role may also include support for compliance-related projects such as stormwater management, spill prevention and response, or hazardous materials and waste.

The successful candidate will review environmental documents, manage technical projects, write reports, and communicate with clients and regulators, supporting Army Installation Environmental Staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  2. Experience in CERCLA/RCRA environmental cleanup projects.
  3. Working knowledge of the Department of Defense (DoD) Cleanup Program and familiarity with regulatory requirements in MD, NJ, PA, and NY is a plus.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, with attention to detail.
  5. Ability to manage time efficiently, be responsive, and work independently.
  6. Flexibility to serve in multiple roles and teams depending on the client and project.
  7. Must pass DoD security clearances and background checks.
  8. US citizenship is required.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Familiarity with CERCLA/RCRA program requirements related to Environmental Restoration.
  • Experience conducting or overseeing Remedial Investigations (RI), Feasibility Studies (FS), and site remediation projects.
  • Experience with DoD cleanup projects is a plus.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing CERCLA/RCRA environmental reports supporting the Army client.
  • Familiarity with emerging contaminants, specifically PFAS, is desirable.
  • Experience providing environmental compliance support, including site visits and fieldwork.
  • Work experience with the DoD, Maryland Department of the Environment, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and D.C. Department of Energy & Environment is a plus.
