  • Level 1: $45K-$50K
  • Level 2: $50K-$60K
  • Level 3: $65K-$70K

Job Summary:

We are committed to ensuring the safety of our communities by providing clean and safe drinking water. As a Compliance Assistance Coordinator (CAC) within the Safe Drinking Water Section, you will serve as a subject matter expert and liaison between the regulated community, the public, and our agency.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona, including virtual office arrangements.

The State of Arizona promotes a work culture that offers flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Many State employees participate in the Remote Work Program, working remotely in their homes, offices, or hoteling spaces, within Arizona unless otherwise authorized.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as an expert on the Safe Drinking Water Act and related regulations, guiding ADEQ staff and stakeholders.
  2. Assist public water systems, operators, and responsible parties in ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  3. Respond to drinking water quality issues and collaborate with enforcement officers to address violations.
  4. Review water system sampling plans, Consumer Confidence Reports, and reporting for accuracy.
  5. Analyze water quality data to assess validity and interpret environmental impacts.
  6. Participate in outreach events and provide training to operators and owners both in person and virtually.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Safe Drinking Water Act, Arizona regulations, and agency policies.
  • Knowledge of water industry practices, environmental enforcement, and remediation techniques.
  • Experience or certifications in related fields is advantageous.
  • Ability to conduct inspections, ensure compliance, and handle environmental complaints.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodologies for process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or related fields.
  • Experience levels vary from 0-2 years to over 5 years, with relevant certifications preferred for higher levels.
  • Applicants for Level 3 should obtain a professional certification within six months.
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must have a valid driver’s license if driving is required, and successfully complete E-Verify.
