Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Science Intern to join our New England team, based inChelmsford, MA or Boston, MA, for in-office and on-site work with a hybrid model.

The role supports the EPP team in both field and office settings, involving ecological surveys, data collection, and mapping using ArcGIS, with May/June start dates. An excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental science within a global infrastructure leader.

Qualifications

• Three years of study at a college or university in a relevant degree program (BA/BS in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, GIS, or related field).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong data analysis and document preparation experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Working with the AECOM ecological team to become familiar with field survey equipment and reporting tools.
• Assisting ecological teams in performing stream, wetland, wildlife habitat assessments, and other surveys.
• Assisting with writing and developing field data sheets and reports.
• Coordinating with governmental agencies regarding survey protocols and reporting standards.
• Conduct regulatory research related to environmental permitting programs and client industry research.
• Creating field maps and reports using GIS (ArcGIS).
• Reviewing desktop information to complete environmental impact assessments.
