Job summary

AmSpec Group in Houston is seeking a dependable Sample Receiving Technician to support receipt, verification, documentation, storage, and distribution of environmental samples. The role ensures sample integrity, accurate records, and timely delivery to analytical departments.

The technician serves as a technical resource, assists with staff training, and supports the supervisor with daily workflow coordination and process improvements while maintaining a safe, organized receiving area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; science training preferred.
• Experience in environmental sample receiving or related lab work.
• Familiarity with chain-of-custody documentation and sample preservation.
• Strong computer and data-entry skills; LIMS experience preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under time pressure.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unpack, inspect samples, and document receipt details.
• Verify identification, temperature, volume, container integrity, and holding times.
• Record data in the LIMS and prepare tracking documentation.
• Store samples under required conditions and coordinate timely distribution.
• Provide technical support and training to staff as needed.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the receiving area and comply with procedures.
