Job summary

AmSpec Group is seeking a dedicated Sample Handler to manage the full lifecycle of samples from receipt through disposal. You will log in, track, store correctly, and ensure disposal in compliance with API procedures and EPA regulations.

You will follow instructions from the Laboratory manager, prepare accurate reports, maintain a clean, safe retention area, and participate in monthly safety meetings. This is a safety-sensitive role with pre-employment and annual drug testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and related experience in the industry preferable.
• Ability to read, write and clearly communicate in English
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, schedulers, and clients.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
• Familiarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs
• Ability to interact with office and laboratory personnel in a proper, professional and business-like manner

Responsibilities

• Responsible for logging in, tracking, correctly storing and disposing of all samples
• Familiar with American Petroleum Institute (API) procedures and documents as they relate to samples
• Familiar with EPA regulations governing samples particularly as they relate to disposal and maintenance of disposal records
• Carry out the assigned tasks in accordance with the latest industry standards and practices and in accordance with the specific instructions given by the Laboratory manager and/or supervisor
• Responsible for the correct preparation of all reports pertaining to samples
• Responsible for keeping retain and storage area clean, organized and free from safety hazards at all times
• Attendance at monthly safety meetings is required
• Safety Sensitive position that requires pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing (including marijuana testing).
