Job summary

Amazon's Worldwide Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team drives regulated waste compliance across multiple sites, turning regulatory requirements into scalable, zero-defect processes. The Risk Specialist I leads site-level programs, tracks waste obligations to closure, and partners with operations to meet milestones.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and state rules, and uses data to surface gaps, prioritize fixes, and improve conformance across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or related field is required.
• 2+ years of environmental compliance, regulated waste management, or workplace risk investigations.
• Experience interpreting and applying environmental regulations (RCRA, DOT, state rules).
• Experience collecting and analyzing data to identify compliance gaps and drive corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Own the execution and delivery of regulated waste compliance projects and activities, including SOPs, workflows, and inspection routines, across supported sites.
• Apply waste compliance audits and site inspections to monitor thresholds, test controls, and take corrective actions.
• Collaborate with site teams and partners to understand business needs and drive consensus on waste compliance requirements.
• Identify process improvements with owners to enhance conformance and reduce risk.
• Prepare clear documentation, reports, metrics, and communications for stakeholders.
• Travel up to 50% of the time.
