Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection seeks an Environmental Resources Specialist 2 to join the Division of Water and Waste Management, State Revolving Fund, Quality Assurance Program. You will evaluate documentation for laboratory certification, including QA manuals, SOPs, proficiency test results, and personnel qualifications.

The role involves on-site laboratory assessments across the state with extensive travel, multi-day trips, and data entry into program databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent paid professional experience in environmental resources, environmental protection or related to environmental impact.
• Graduate coursework may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of fifteen semester hours for every one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Review QA manuals, SOPs, proficiency test results, equipment suitability, personnel qualifications, and QA data to support laboratory certification.
• Perform on-site assessments of laboratories applying for certification; travel extensively for multi-day trips.
• Enter laboratory information into the program database and tracking spreadsheets; prepare deposit memoranda for accounts receivable.
