Job summary

RECON seeks a Project Manager to oversee earthwork, cap closure, and environmental remediation construction projects across the Western United States. You will supervise field crews and heavy equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency in line with contract requirements.

The role requires travel to project sites, strong leadership, and expertise in scheduling, cost control, and client coordination. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience managing earthwork construction projects, with a focus on mine reclamation, soil treatment, soil stabilization, site preparation, and/or environmental remediation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in mine reclamation or environmental remediation project management will also be considered.
• Demonstrated history of increasing financial responsibility and supervisory leadership, with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding project goals and performance benchmarks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and Teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 scheduling software and cost estimating tools is preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and accountability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work in active construction settings with regular exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
• Experience with large-scale earthmoving or heavy civil construction projects is strongly preferred.
• Must be able to travel to project sites daily to oversee field operations, conduct site inspections, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of project execution from planning and mobilization through closeout, aligning objectives with field operations.
• Collaborate with Safety to lead and sustain safety programs across job sites.
• Direct project execution in compliance with scope, including pre-bid planning, startup, contract administration, resource allocation, and change orders.
• Oversee project control systems for daily progress reporting and data-driven status updates.
• Use risk matrices and KPI dashboards to identify and manage project risks.
• Develop forecasts and reports on budget adherence and completion dates.
• Foster strong client relationships to ensure timely payments and repeat business.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to project teams on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Prepare, submit, and track invoices; monitor payment status and resolve issues.
• Develop detailed cost estimates by analyzing contracts, bids, and vendor quotes.
