Job summary

State of Connecticut - Department of Energy and Environmental Protection seeks an Environmental Protection Assistant Division Director (Major) to assist in managing a statewide conservation law enforcement division. The role oversees operations across three districts, supervises sworn officers and staff, and ensures policy compliance and program delivery.

The position requires extensive experience in environmental protection, leadership, and knowledge of applicable laws.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of professional experience in natural resource management, environmental conservation, energy planning or related environmental protection field.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience responsible for staff performing environmental protection work.
• Substitutions allowed: college training in a related scientific/technical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direction of staff and operations of division.
• Determine priorities, coordinate plans and manage activities; help set program goals and objectives.
• Assist in development of related policy, goals and objectives.
• Interpret and administer pertinent laws and regulations.
• Evaluate staff performance and oversee training and development.
• Prepare division budget and related reports.
• Oversee special projects and ensure alignment with agency goals.
