Job summary

The State of Connecticut seeks an Environmental Protection Assistant Division Director (Major) to lead the Environmental Conservation Police Division, oversee personnel, coordinate with partners, and direct strategic policy and budget efforts. This role requires advanced leadership across a statewide agency and enforcement units.

The incumbent will manage a diverse team, drive public safety and natural resource protection, and ensure implementation of agency directives from the Hartford office.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of professional experience in natural resource management, environmental conservation, energy research or related environmental protection field.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience responsible for staff performing environmental protection work.
• Preferred: active law enforcement certification or recertification under POST standards.

Responsibilities

• Directs continuing supervision, inspection and training of personnel assigned to command.
• Evaluates staff performance and oversees reports and budgeting.
• Oversees five specialized units including K9, Boating Accident Reconstruction, Hunting Related Incidents, Chemical Immobilization and Peer Support.
• Coordinates with local, state and federal partners and oversees division goals and policies.
