Job summary

State of Indiana, IDEM, is seeking a Project Manager to oversee administrative and technical oversight of site characterization and remediation of hazardous substance and petroleum sites. You will report to the Section Chief and work with technical staff, legal counsel, and IDEM Management to ensure compliance with agency guidelines and laws.

Role requires travel to sites, field work in varying conditions, and development of goals, plans and timelines.

Qualifications

• Two years or more work experience in an environmental or environmental public health field or a combination of accredited college degree and work experience in a related field.
• Accredited college degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science/Policy or Environmental Engineering.
• Knowledge of Federal and State environmental laws, regulations, and policy guidance concerning waste management, disposal and permitting and investigation and cleanup of releases of hazardous waste and petroleum.
• Excellent communication skills necessary to clearly prepare in depth technical and administrative documents required to direct each project.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Project Manager overseeing administrative and technical oversight of site characterization and remediation for hazardous substances and petroleum sites.
• Develop project goals, plans and timelines, coordinating with technical staff, legal counsel and IDEM management.
• Travel to field sites and work in varying weather conditions, with potential long days during field work.
