Job summary

Mark Thomas & Co. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our environmental team in California. The role focuses on transportation-related CEQA/NEPA studies, including research, field work, impact analysis, and reporting, with client communication and strategic project planning.

You’ll lead a team of environmental planning professionals, manage scopes, and collaborate across divisions to advance new opportunities while mentoring staff and delivering high-quality environmental documents.

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of progressively responsible environmental planning and project management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, environmental studies, or related field.
• Strong CEQA/NEPA knowledge for transportation projects.
• Deep understanding of environmental regulations at CA state/local levels.
• Proficient in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage client relations.
• Understanding of project financials and performance metrics.
• Ability to win new environment project work and develop business.

Responsibilities

• Supervises project activities and coordinates staff; improves performance and profitability.
• Leads quality control and proactive project management; enforces standards.
• Supports growth by developing proposals and maintaining client relationships.
• Prepares CEQA/NEPA documents for diverse project types; ensures compliance.
• Mentors team and aligns technical work with client requirements.
• Develops and maintains professional networks; participates in industry events.
• Participates in interviewing and hiring candidates.
