Environmental Project Manager – FERC Natural Gas Projects

Position Overview

POWER Engineers, a member of WSP's Environmental Division, provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services across various industries. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams in obtaining FERC authorizations and permits for interstate natural gas pipeline infrastructure projects. This full-time, remote-friendly position offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Roles and Responsibilities

The primary focus is to deliver environmental services related to routing, permitting, and construction support for natural gas facilities regulated by FERC.

  • Manage multiple projects across different phases and locations, from routing to construction compliance.
  • Lead environmental studies and permit applications, including FERC Section 7, Blanket Project authorizations, and EA/EIS documents.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies for permitting.
  • Contribute to business development through proposals, presentations, and project capture.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, attorneys, planners, GIS analysts, and environmental specialists.
  • Engage with the public and stakeholders at hearings and meetings.
  • Manage client relationships, project scope, budgets, schedules, and forecasts.
  • Participate in field reviews, compliance inspections, and site meetings.
  • Travel up to 25% for meetings and site visits.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. or B.A. in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing environmental licensing and permitting of pipelines.
  • Expertise in FERC regulations under the Natural Gas Act and familiarity with other federal environmental regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications relevant to technical expertise.

Compensation

Base salary ranges from $125,000 to $165,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation includes bonuses, benefits, and other perks.
