Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking an Environmental Programs Manager to lead environmental compliance and risk management across a national portfolio of locations. You will serve as the primary environmental subject matter expert and key point of contact for senior leadership, operations, and external regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental policies for stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, petroleum storage, and spill response.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance or programs management.
• In-house corporate experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing environmental investigations and remediation projects.
• Strong project and vendor management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as enterprise lead for all environmental programs and risk management activities across a multi-site portfolio.
• Develop and maintain environmental policies to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Lead due diligence for real estate transactions, including Phase I/II ESAs.
• Manage site investigations, remediation projects, and coordination with regulators and contractors.
• Oversee fuel systems and petroleum-storage programs, permitting, inspections, and reporting.
• Provide guidance to field operations on hazardous materials, waste handling, spill prevention, and emergency response.
• Create and maintain environmental training programs for field staff and incident response awareness.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks in business decisions; negotiate contracts with vendors.
