Job summary

Orange County Government in Orlando, FL is seeking an Environmental Programs Administrator to supervise multiple environmental programs and guide strategic priorities. The role requires leading teams, directing regulatory functions, and aligning activities with the Planning, Environmental and Development Services (PEDS) plan.

Independent judgment and strong communication with diverse audiences are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, environmental law, natural sciences or related field; seven years in environmental protection.
• Minimum three years in a supervisory role; equivalent education/experience allowed.
• Experience in environmental program management and regulatory oversight.
• Public/stakeholder engagement and leadership experience preferred.
• Certifications such as PWS, CEP, CHMM are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Advise division leadership and county management on environmental, regulatory, permitting, compliance, and policy matters.
• Coordinate board agenda items, hearings, reports, and technical work products.
• Provide leadership and oversight for assigned environmental programs and teams.
• Supervise staff, support hiring and succession planning, promote accountability.
• Monitor and facilitate operations across permitting, compliance, development review, and related programs.
