What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage and supervise a team of engineers, hydrologists, and environmental scientists reviewing permits and managing technical projects
- Oversee unit budget and financial resources for staff training, strategic hiring, and necessary equipment purchases
- Develop and implement process improvement projects to enhance efficiency and performance measures
- Serve as a technical and regulatory resource for staff, stakeholders, and the public
- Evaluate and coach staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in hydrology, geology, civil/environmental/chemical engineering, environmental science/management, natural sciences, or a closely related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of environmental experience in a regulatory agency, consulting, or private industry
- Minimum of 2 years of management/supervisory experience
- Knowledge of management techniques and lean management principles
- Skills in analyzing and interpreting technical data
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies including LEAN, Six Sigma, or similar
- Familiarity with principles of engineering, project management, and environmental science
- Strong skills in strategic planning and managing program goals
- Proven ability to analyze program needs and implement effective policies and procedures
