Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Martinez, California, seeks an Environmental Specialist/Engineer to interpret and develop environmental policies and implement conformance procedures. The role supports on-site 9/80 schedule with on-call once a month and core hours 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental (or a relevant diploma with experience), 5 years in a process industry or 1 year with a degree, and proficiency in Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED AND 5 years of professional environmental experience in a process industry such as refining, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industry OR Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental AND 1 year of relevant professional environmental experience in a process industry such as refining, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365: Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be able to wear PPE in the refinery (respirator) and pass hair drug test and physical.

Responsibilities

• Interprets and/or develops Company environmental policies and guidelines and develops methods and procedures for implementing and assuring conformance; advises managers and supervisors; provides guidance and technical assistance; monitors compliance and reports to personnel.
• Designs/reviews engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment or systems; determines specifications and recommends equipment.
• Identifies and investigates environmental problems; initiates steps to prevent recurrences and communicates with senior management.
