Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s Martinez facility in California is seeking an Environmental Specialist/Engineer to interpret and implement environmental policies and develop procedures for conformance. The role supports managers, designs programs, and ensures regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include policy development, budget input, training, and interaction with regulatory agencies. The position requires onsite work on a 9/80 schedule with occasional on-call duty and travel of up to 5%.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED AND 5 years of professional environmental experience in a process industry OR Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental AND 1 year of relevant professional environmental experience in a process industry
• Proficient in Microsoft 365: Word, Excel and Outlook
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), perform all tasks in the field, and pass hair drug test and physical
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain TWIC Card
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship
• Travel requirement is 5% or less
• Onsite schedule is 9/80 with monthly on-call support
• Core Business: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

• Interprets and develops environmental policies and procedures for conformance
• Advises managers and supervisors on goals and requirements
• Provides guidance on program development and budget inputs
• Monitors policy compliance and reports findings to leadership
• Designs and reviews environmental equipment or systems and costs
• Identifies and investigates environmental issues to determine causes
• Maintains knowledge of regulations and industry standards
• Conducts regulatory impact assessments and coordinates permits
• Develops training materials and informs employees of policies
• Represents the company with trade groups and regulatory agencies
