LMI seeks an environmental planning specialist to support a federal program management office in Washington, DC. Responsibilities

You will assist a federal agency in executing its environmental program and ensuring compliance with laws such as the CAA, CWA, ESA, NEPA, NHPA, and RCRA. Critical success factors include strong communication, innovative problem-solving, and a solid understanding of environmental laws and processes.

Representative responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the federal environmental branch lead as part of our technical team
  • Developing environmental clearances, technical reports, and guidance in accordance with CBP policies
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations across projects nationwide
  • Tracking environmental requirements and recording final documents, mitigation, and metrics in CBP systems
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and CBP/DHS branches
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (science, engineering, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience, with 2 years in NEPA compliance preferred
  • Experience with CBP's portfolios is a plus
  • Knowledge in NEPA, NHPA, ESA, CAA, CWA, RCRA, and environmental training development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, TRIRIGA, and ArcGIS
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude in dynamic environments
  • Relevant environmental planning certifications preferred
  • Ability to work remotely and independently
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, including hiking to remote locations carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to pass a government background check; U.S. citizenship required
