Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Maintenance Planner. The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance activities, coordinating with maintenance and operations teams, creating maintenance work orders, tracking and reporting on maintenance activities, and ensuring that all planned maintenance is carried out efficiently and effectively. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Each duty is central to performance expectations and shall be carried out with exacting attention to detail, consistent documentation, and adherence to industry best practices:

1. Maintenance Strategy Development

  • Design, document, and refine preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for mechanical, electrical, and structural assets.
  • Ensure strategies comply with industry regulations, OEM specifications, and internal performance benchmarks.

2. Work Order Planning and Scheduling

  • Translate work requests into actionable work orders with explicit task instructions, time estimates, material requirements, tools, permits, and safety procedures.
  • Assign maintenance work packages to appropriate internal teams or contractors based on skillsets and availability.

3. CMMS Management

  • Administer and update Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) including asset data, job plans, historical records, failure codes, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze system data to optimize work order closure rates, backlog reduction, and KPI reporting.

4. Inventory and Procurement Coordination

  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure availability of materials, spares, and consumables aligned with planned work.
  • Maintain minimum inventory thresholds and support cost-control initiatives.

5. Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to environmental, safety, and operational compliance frameworks.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, permits, licenses, and statutory obligations.

6. Cross-Functional Communication

  • Serve as the single point of contact for planning between Operations, Engineering, Health & Safety, and third-party contractors.
  • Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings to align stakeholders and resources.
  • Evaluate planning effectiveness through audit trails, feedback loops, and root cause analysis.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to reliability, planning cycle times, and team performance.

Salary Range:

  • $84,000 – $122,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and credentials
  • Annual Performance-Based Bonus: Eligible, up to 20% of base salary
  • Annual Merit-Based Review: Included
