Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks an Environmental Permitting Lead to act as technical lead and project manager for environmental permitting and compliance across electric transmission, distribution, substations, and utility infrastructure projects.

You will drive permitting strategies, agency coordination, and regulatory compliance through planning to construction. You will mentor staff, support business development, and coordinate with clients, engineers, and regulators to mitigate

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Planning, or related field.
8+ years of environmental permitting experience for utility and energy projects.
Experience leading permitting for transmission, distribution, substations, and renewables.
Knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and permitting frameworks.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with schedules and budgets.
Strong communication and leadership for agency meetings and client discussions.

Responsibilities

Lead proposal development, scope, and project pursuit for environmental permitting.
Oversee permitting strategies, agency coordination, and regulatory compliance.
Develop permitting plans for transmission lines, substations, and renewable facilities.
Serve as primary permitting lead with clients, teams, and regulatory agencies.
Coordinate studies, field investigations, and reports for permit applications.
Prepare and review permit applications, EA, and environmental constraints analyses.
Mentor environmental staff and support business development activities.
Monitor regulatory trends impacting utility projects.
