Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking an Environmental Specialist II in Tallahassee to lead education and outreach for the Clean Boating Program. You will organize events, develop marina materials, and coordinate with regional coordinators to advance program goals.

Responsibilities include promoting Clean Marina designation, producing quarterly press releases, and supporting grant prep and state/federal compliance, while traveling as needed and maintaining strong

Qualifications

• Experience in education and outreach related to marine or environmental topics.
• Ability to plan, organize and present at workshops and events.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Serve as education and outreach coordinator for the DEP Clean Boating Program.
• Organize and participate in events related to marine industries and boating.
• Develop materials for marinas and the boating public describing clean boating.
• Work with Marinas to facilitate Clean Marina designation and promote partnerships.
• Coordinate with regional Clean Boating Coordinators on activities.
• Implement program strategies to meet federal and state goals under Clean Boating.
• Provide coordination and management for the Clean Marina Program, including renewals.
• Maintain communication with Clean Boating Coordinators to ensure timely visits.
• Develop and distribute Clean Marina press releases quarterly.
• Maintain communication with the Division of State Lands for leasing confirmation.
• Provide guidance, materials, and technical assistance to marina partners and coordinators.
• Organize and present at Clean Boating workshops; attend professional meetings.
• Support program activities such as workshops, boat shows, audits, and designation ceremonies.
