Job summary

Stantec in the United States seeks an Environmental Planner Project Manager to lead NEPA projects on Federally-owned lands, coordinating schedules, budgets, and multi-disciplinary teams. The role emphasizes technical writing, review of environmental documents, and mentoring junior staff.

You will manage office and field teams, subconsultants, and client expectations, with a path toward remote hybrid work from Solana Beach, CA. Strong communication and time-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related work experience as a project manager with demonstrated NEPA project management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, geology, chemistry, community/urban planning or a closely related field.
• Strong technical writing, analytical and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities, attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
• Ability to work across time zones.
• Ability to acquire background clearance sufficient to gain entry to military installations and/or controlled access facilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Environmental Planner Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager for NEPA projects on Federally-owned lands with schedule and budget management and client interactions.
• Prepare and review environmental impact documents and mitigation plans (e.g., EAs, EISs) and review supporting studies and field surveys.
• Mentor junior environmental planners and oversee client interactions and task management.
• Manage the project team (office and field) and contracts, deliverables, and budgets.
• Report to the Solana Beach, CA office but may be eligible for remote hybrid work.
