Your Role:

The Environmental Monitoring Associate Scientist is responsible for routine environmental monitoring (EM) testing and analysis within the Quality Control department at MilliporeSigma. This includes tasks such as viable and non-viable particulate counts, endotoxin analysis, and other system checks supporting QC activities at Madison and Verona sites. Techniques may include USP water collection, aseptic handling of microbial samples, and agar plate analysis. Additional responsibilities include assisting with deviations, change controls, CAPAs, participating in process improvements, maintaining a clean and audit-ready lab environment, and supporting overall departmental success.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform environmental monitoring tasks to ensure data accuracy and quality.
  2. Assist in training new laboratory staff as needed.
  3. Maintain laboratory supplies, dispose of waste properly, and keep the lab in an audit-ready state.
  4. Address problems within scope with guidance, exercising judgment within defined procedures.
  5. Participate in project meetings to ensure progress.
  6. Manage change controls and CAPAs, support deviations, revise SOPs, and uphold data integrity initiatives.
  7. Collaborate with QC and other departments to meet project goals.
  8. Ensure compliance with procedures and regulations including ICH Q7, 21 CFR Parts 11, 210, 211, and 820, ISO 14001, and 45001.
Physical Attributes:
  • Ability to work in an analytical lab with hazardous chemicals.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related life sciences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and adherence to 21 CFR Part 11, 210, 211, 820; ICH Q7; ISO 14001, and 45001.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and good documentation practices.
  • Understanding of aseptic microbiological techniques.
