Associate Scientist, CMC Analytical Development

Employer: Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals | Location: Verona, Wisconsin, US | Salary: Competitive | Closing date: May 11, 2025

Sector: Academic / Research | Field: Development | Discipline: Biology | Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARWR) is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing medicines that treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes responsible. Using a broad portfolio of RNA chemistries and delivery modes, Arrowhead therapies leverage RNA interference (RNAi) to induce rapid, deep, and durable gene knockdown. RNAi inhibits specific gene expression, affecting protein production, and is a natural pathway present in cells.

Our focus is on developing innovative drugs for genetically based diseases characterized by overproduction of proteins involved in disease processes. Our versatile RNAi technologies allow us to address conditions across therapeutic areas, including targets outside the liver, with a pipeline that includes clinical and preclinical candidates.

Headquartered in Pasadena, CA, with R&D teams in Madison, WI, and San Diego, CA, our team comprises nimble, science-driven innovators committed to bringing new therapies to patients.

The Position

This role is part of the Analytical Development (AD) group within the CMC Manufacturing organization. The Associate Scientist III will support method development and validation for new drug substances and products, contribute to GLP toxicology testing, cGMP clinical trial material release, and stability studies. The position reports to AD management.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to cGMP policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Provide accurate analytical results independently for ongoing projects.
  • Meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Test samples supporting batch release and stability studies.
  • Perform analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV/Vis, LC/MS, KF, etc.
  • Assist in designing and developing analytical methods and improving existing ones for all drug development stages.
  • Handle, analyze, and characterize chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
  • Evaluate and interpret scientific data, providing significance and insights.
  • Design and execute non-routine experiments independently.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and propose follow-up actions.
  • Compile data, develop stability reports, and prepare certificates of analysis.
  • Write test methods, protocols, and SOPs.
  • Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot analytical equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
